LIFE LATELY: AUGUST

AUGUST ARRIVED LIKE A CONFETTI CANNON

MILESTONES, PROJECTS & A BIT OF COASTAL MAGIC

We celebrated my son, Krew turning nine—NINE—which feels impossible and inevitable all at once. He’s growing into this wildly creative little human, and keeping up with him & my three kid(d)s sports is both my greatest joy and my most exhausting workout.

From there, it was straight into Install Week for our Willamette project. Few things thrill me like watching months of sourcing and sketching materialize into rooms that suddenly exhale and come alive. There’s a particular kind of magic when a space finally feels like itself. I think you guys felt it too!

We brought on our first Senior Designer—a milestone that feels both exciting and deeply grounding for the studio. We officially signed a new project in Seattle, Washington. A city layered with history, water, and evergreens—it feels like the perfect backdrop for a project that will marry tudor sophistication with a little Pacific Northwest soul.

Midway through the month, I flew to San Luis Obispo for a quick check-in. That stretch of California is the perfect ode to slow living—sun-soaked hills, wildflowers leaning into the land, and a design community that knows how to make less feel like more. I wrapped the trip with an indulgence: orange wine at golden hour. If you haven’t tried it, please do—it tastes like August in a glass and might be coming to MKS originals…

And then, because no month is complete without a reset, I stole away for a girls’ trip to the coast. Salt air, laughter that lasted too late into the night, the kind of conversations that recalibrate you. Good for the soul, good for the spirit, and, if I’m honest, a little good for the wardrobe too.

August, you were generous—work sites, wine tastings, sandy toes, and everything in between.

seasonal selects: FEELING FUN

Now it’s off to Los Angeles, chasing the sunshine and the possibility of a new project that already feels full of promise. Then back home, where we’ll be presenting designs for our Christmas Tree Farm project—a space that’s equal parts cozy tradition and fresh vision. Perfect for Fall!

From palm trees to pine trees, it’s a reminder of just how wide and wonderful this work can be.
