LIFE LATELY: MAY

MAISON DE MAY

Life Lately: May Edition. I’m writing this from 30,000 feet, en route to Winter Park, Florida for a presentation—but before I dive into what's ahead, here’s a look back at the whirlwind that was May.

The month began the way every dreamy one should: in New York City. The skyline buzzed, 1stDibs 50 was celebrated, and inspiration spilled from every brownstone stoop. I swapped yellow cabs for rosemary-scented sunsets during site visits in 30A, only to repack for the raw, untamed beauty of South Dakota. And just when I thought I’d finally unpacked for good, we whisked the family away to Disneyland to celebrate Karoline’s 7th birthday—pure magic.

My calendar? Bursting at the seams.

But tucked between the plane rides, paint swatches, and nearly-there spaces were the quieter moments. Time outside. Wine sipped slowly. Family dinners that lingered. And a meaningful morning walk through Bend—stepping out in strength and love for Karoline, and for anyone living with type 1 diabetes.

Two installs are queued up for a summer reveal—our Willamette Valley and Nevada Hills projects—and fall is already shaping up to be a full-blown production. The calendar is stacked. The samples are piling. And somehow, amid the chaos and creativity, I’m still anchored in the why behind the work.

Because whether I’m designing a space or racing through an airport in boots and blueprints, I’m realizing the most beautiful design I’m building... just might be the one I get to live in.

June, So Far. June is off to a running start—and in all the best ways. We are kicking things off in Winter Park, Florida, where we present design concepts for a project that’s already close to my heart. From there, I zip to the Central Coast to walk through our project in San Luis Obispo—a new build I designed years ago nestled in the hills that finally broke ground.

Back at home, we are hosting a yard sale that will feel more like a neighborhood gathering than a clean-out—pieces with stories bound to find new homes. I’m always reminded how good it feels to make space (both literally and creatively)…

There's also an exciting PR editorial moment on the horizon—one I can’t wait to share more about soon. And I’m heading back to Florida once again, this time to our beloved 30A project in Rosemary Beach, for another presentation as we get ready to bring that vision to life in full color and form.

The pace is fast, the mood is electric, and somehow, it still feels grounded. June, you’re already a favorite.

Curious for more from our South Dakota project? We’re giving you the full behind-the-scenes tour right here—every texture, view, and thoughtful detail. And if you're dreaming up a space of your own, we'd love to hear from you. Start the process by filling out this form—we can’t wait to learn more about your vision.
